India drops travel curbs for fully jabbed travellers meaning no pre-departure tests or quarantine

India drops travel curbs for fully jabbed meaning travellers can simply fill in Covid declaration form and ‘self-monitor’ their health for 14 days instead

  • India joined Canada in relaxing its travel rules due to easing coronavirus figures
  • Double-jabbed will no longer need pre-departure test or have to quarantine
  • Comes after France, Greece, Portugal dropped all testing for fully jabbed Brits

India has become the latest country to drop Covid travel restrictions for fully vaccinated Britons.

The new rules came into effect this week and mean UK travellers with proof of being double-jabbed with a recognised vaccine can enter the country without having to quarantine or take a pre-departure test.

Previously, all arrivals needed to quarantine for a week, have a pre-departure test and take another swab on day eight.

Unvaccinated travellers must still take a pre-departure PCR test but no longer have to quarantine.

All travellers must fill in a declaration form and ‘self-monitor’ their health for 14 days. Before the pandemic, nearly 700,000 Britons visited India annually.

Canada also said yesterday that it was relaxing measures.

From February 28, fully vaccinated Britons will be allowed to take a quicker and cheaper lateral flow test pre-departure, rather than a pricey PCR swab.

It comes after France, Greece and Portugal dropped all travel testing for fully jabbed Britons.

The UK also dropped tests for returning double-vaccinated holidaymakers last week.
