Nobody does it better for Hipgnosis than Bond: Music firm snaps up rights from 007 theme tune composer Carole Bayer Sager

Hipgnosis has snapped up rights from Carole Bayer Sager, the songwriter behind the James Bond theme tune Nobody Does It Better.

It is the latest deal by the FTSE 250 listed music rights business, which has been on an acquisitions spree since the start of the year.

Already this year the company has bought music rights from Blondie, Neil Young and pop princess Shakira.

Arguably the Sager deal is the best yet.

The 74-year-old has written for stars such as Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.

She has won four Grammys, six Oscars and ten Golden Globes and was married to fellow songwriter Burt Bacharach for nine years.

Nobody Does It Better was the theme tune to The Spy Who Loved Me, which starred Roger Moore and Barbara Bach.
