French boats FLEE: Map shows vessels leave Jersey after intense Brexit blockade

In tracking data, the vessels were seen departing St Helier this afternoon following a blockade of the port in the morning.

Two Royal Navy vessels were dispatched this morning in order to monitor the protests around the island.

France also sent two vessels to patrol the area after a mass of fishing vessels blockaded the port due to a row over post-Brexit fishing licences.

Such was the escalation in tensions, Boris Johnson held a call with Jersey officials this afternoon.

A Downing Street spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister spoke to the Chief Minister of Jersey, Senator John Le Fondré, the Deputy Chief Minister, Lyndon Farnham and the Minister of External Affairs, Ian Gorst this morning.

“The Prime Minister reiterated his unequivocal support for Jersey and confirmed that the two Royal Navy Offshore Patrol Vessels would remain in place to monitor the situation as a precautionary measure.

“They agreed to stay in touch as the situation develops.”
