Three teenagers have been arrested following a car crash which left a woman with ‘life-threatening’ injuries.
Police rushed to Canewdon, Essex at around 1.50am today after a black Ford Fiesta had ‘come to stop in a ditch’.
A woman, 18, remains in hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries’ while three others in the car are not believed to have sustained serious injuries.
Essex Police said it was attempting to locate a fifth passenger who they believe was in the vehicle at the time of the collision ‘but left the scene’.
Three 17-year-olds, two boys and a girl, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the crash.

The road remains closed and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 85 of 03/04.
A force spokesperson said: ‘Three 17 year-olds – two boys and a girl – have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with this morning’s collision.
‘We are continuing to search for another woman who we believe was in the vehicle but left the scene.

‘A black Ford Fiesta was reported to have left Creeksea Ferry Road at around 1.50am and come to stop in a ditch.
‘A teenager inside has sustained life-threatening injuries. The road is closed.
‘Three other people in the car are not believed to be seriously injured.’
