A truck driver drastically miscalculated the height of his semi-trailer, smashing into a railway bridge and blocking traffic for almost five hours.
The rig slammed into the Oxley Road railway bridge in Brisbane’s south-west early on Tuesday morning, tearing most of the roof off the truck.
Police and emergency services were called to the Sherwood area just after 5am to find heavy vehicle stuck in the 3.6m clearance.

The wreckage caused ‘major delays’ for motorists with northbound traffic diverted along Martindale Street and southbound traffic told to take Jerrold Street.
Trains were also suspended for several hours.
No one was injured in the crash although first responders did provide a medical check for an elderly motorist at the scene.
The massive clean up job eventually ended about 9:40am with traffic and train services returning to normal soon after.
Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia it is investigating to determine whether an infringement notice will be handed out, or charges laid against the driver.
