A Conservative election candidate has been suspended over online slurs about the police and boasts of taking drugs while a soldier in an elite unit that guards the Queen.
The Conservatives have launched a probe into Lloyd Widdup after his Twitter history also revealed a series of hardcore pornographic posts, along with images of him in uniform with the Grenadier Guards.
Mr Widdup, who is standing for election to Nottinghamshire County Council, shared a post referring to the police as ‘bacon’ and joked about them being ‘pigs’ in another.
He also boasted of being ‘on a mephadrone high’, of wanting a ‘jazz fag’ – a common synonym for cannabis – and of relieving his boredom by masturbating. It is understood some of the posts were made when he was aged under 18.
Labour had demand an investigation into how he was chosen as a candidate for Worksop West in in the former Red Wall area of Bassetlaw, Notts.
After the posts were shown to the Conservative Party, a spokeswoman told MailOnline: ‘Lloyd Widdup has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.’

According to his LinkedIn page, Mr Widdup served in the elite Guards regiment between 2014 and 2018, including with Nijmegen Company, which carries out ceremonial duties at locations including Buckingham Palace.
In a letter to Conservative Party chairwoman Amanda Milling, Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner wrote: ‘Mr Widdup has used his social media account to share explicit and pornographic images, made repeated references to drug use and also made anti-police statements.

‘The people of Nottinghamshire deserve better than a Councillor who makes the kind of statements and shares the kind of images that Mr Widdup has done on social media and we would urge you to drop Mr Widdup as a Conservative Party candidate for May’s elections.’
In one message Mr Widdup wrote: ‘I weirdly followed s*** loads of porn pages years back while on a mephedrone high. While aesthetically pleasing my twitters boring as f***.’
In another, in 2014, he wrote: ‘Can’t wait to go back to work, shoot machine guns and throw grenades rather than watch Jeremy Kyle and masturbate. Bored as f***.’
He also retweeted an image of police officers ordering food which had the caption: ‘I thought they banned bacon from Subway?’. Another post the same year he posted a picture of police cars outside the ‘Hungry Pigs Cafe’, commenting: ‘It’s the Po Po… In an ironic fashion.’
He also retweeted a hardcore pornographic image of a sex act between a man and a woman, and another showing a man performing a sex act with a lipstick.
On the same account are pictures of him in Guards uniform, including posing with a foreign tourist in London in his dress uniform.
