Sydney train strike, lockout: Rail Trains Bus Union boss Alex Claassens breaks down during speech

Astonishing moment union boss BREAKS DOWN talking about his mate who was killed in a train accident as he lashes decision to shut down whole Sydney train network

The NSW Trade Union Secretary has been moved to tears while recalling how his  close friend died in a freak train accident.

Alex Claassens addressed crowds on Monday following a major train network shutdown that saw millions of Sydney commuters stranded.

The sudden train closure came on the day NSW welcomed the first international tourists to the state as well as the two-year anniversary of his mate’s tragic death.

‘It was also a very important day for me, because two years ago a very good friend of mine died in a train accident,’ Mr Claassens said, while holding back tears.

‘And for me to have to go through all this rubbish and stand here and justify why we’re taking industrial action which we’re allowed to do legally under the law…’

‘We’ve done everything by the book’.
