Stabbing rampage at French university leaves four injured as ‘attacker brandishing a knife and club’ is arrested

  • Police and firefighters were called to the University of Le Mans in France at 1.45pm today after a man with a knife is believed to have broken in 
  • It is unclear what injuries the four victims have or whether they are in critical conditions 
  • The alleged attacker has been arrested after students claim they saw him randomly attacking other pupils
  • It is believed he is tall and was wearing a long black coat and was holding some sort of stick 


Four people have been left injured in a stabbing rampage at a French university and a knife-wielding attacker has been arrested.  

Police and firefighters were called to the University of Le Mans in France at 1.45pm today after a man with a knife is believed to have broken into the Faculty of Arts. 

It is unclear what injuries the four victims have or whether they are in critical conditions or not.

The alleged attacker has been arrested after students claim they saw him randomly attacking other pupils.  

It is believed he is tall and was wearing a long black coat and was holding some sort of stick.  

An alarm to evacuate the building went off at 1.45pm and students hid in classrooms and other buildings. 

The alleged attacker was arrested at around 2pm and classes have been cancelled for the rest of the day.
