Seething caller savages Boris failure to fully implement Brexit 'Sheer opportunist!'

Caller Martin from Poole provided damning insights into the post-Brexit vote era, stressing that “incompetent” politicians not only did not warm to the idea of the UK departing the European Union but also did nothing to make it work afterwards. He pulled no punches in his assessment of the Conservative Party, declaring that its leader Boris Johnson is a pale imitation of an orthodox Brexiteer and a “sheer opportunist” who took all the credit for delivering Brexit.

Speaking to TalkRADIO host Kevin O’Sullivan, the caller admitted that the Prime Minister has a “political antenna” but claimed Nigel Farage’s return to the fray would spell the end of the Conservative Party in Number 10.

He said: “When I voted in 2016 – which nearly six years ago I knew exactly what I was voting for – I was under no illusions about the calibre of politicians we have.

“Most of whom did not want the referendum and they certainly did not want to implement it.

“I think it’s just a question of incompetence, I mean let’s be honest about it, and unwillingness. we are where we are.

“And we also have a leader, and I come out with it.

“I don’t think he is a Brexiteer, he’s a sheer opportunist.

“But he has got this political antenna and he had an inclination, leave my wing, he’s jumped on that bandwagon and taken all the credit for it!”

He stirred the pot, saying that Mr Farage’s departure played into the Tory party’s hands and a potential return of the ex-leader of the Brexit party would be bad news for Mr Johnson whom he brands as a “joke”

“But the way this is going the Tories are destroying themselves with sheer stupidity, incompetence, and unwillingness to [implement] the referendum result.

“And the last point I’d love to make, if Nigel Farage were to be in charge of the reform party, take over the reform party you can see the Tory votes dip”

Mr Farage resigned as Leader of Reform UK last year and said that the Brexit Party’s triumph in the 2019 European elections laid the foundations for Mr Johnson dislodging Theresa May as Prime Minister and that he had achieved what he set out to on the Brexit front.
