Australian supermarkets have recalled a popular paleo breakfast bar over fears it contains a dangerous bacterial growth which could cause sickness.

Health chiefs have urged IGA supermarkets and health food stores to stop selling Naturally Good Super Paleo Breakfast Biscuits in the Lemon Chia, Maple Hemp and Vanilla Flax flavors. 

Consumers are warned not to eat the health bars due to a potential increase in moisture which may lead to microbial growth.

The NSW Food Authority said the affected biscuits with best before dates from August 26, 2021 up to and including March 15, 2022 may cause illness. 

The products were available for sale in in NSW, ACT, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, Northern Territory and South Australia. 

Anyone who bought the product should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
