The boy’s grandfather Randall Coates also took to Facebook to urge drivers to be careful saying his pain was ‘indescribable’.

‘Please always remember to check around your vehicles in driveways when children are anywhere in the area. ‘ he said.

Those who know had also begun posting tributes on Sunday describing Noah as ‘happy, beautiful’ kid.

‘Noah was a special little man with such insight and a little comedian. I think he held a special spot in all our hearts. We will love him forever,’ one person wrote.

‘He was a beautiful boy with a wonderful personality he was just beautiful like his Mumma,’ another said.

A neighbour told the Herald Sun an elderly relative could have been driving the car.

‘I got home from work and thought ‘What’s going on?’ he said.

‘Then obviously when the helicopter landed and shut its engines off, it was a clear sign something bad had happened … I believe what happened is a family member was driving the car, but we’re not 100 per cent sure.’

It is understood the driver of the car remained at the scene to assist police.
