Millionaire UKFast founder, 53, is charged with second rape dating back to 1993 – after denying five other sex assaults including ‘attack on woman at Manchester hotel in 2010’

The millionaire founder of internet hosting firm UKFast has been charged with another count of rape involving accusations from nearly 30 years ago. 

Lawrence Jones, 53, will appear in court next week for allegedly raping someone in Salford in 1993.

In February the former chief executive from Hale, Greater Manchester, pleaded not guilty to raping a woman at a Manchester city centre hotel in 2010. 

And in January he also pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the woman by touching her on her thighs when she did not consent on a date in 2013.

The six charges facing Lawrence Jones 

Rape: Salford, 1993 (plea pending)

Rape: Manchester, 2020 (denied)

Sexual assault: 2013 (denied)

Sexual assault:  Snowdonia, 2010 (denied)

Sexual assault: Snowdonia, 2010 (denied)

Sexual assault: Cheshire, 2010-2012 (denied)

Jones also denied three other sexual assault charges relating to a second person.  

He is alleged to have intentionally touched her in an intimate area while they were in Snowdonia, Wales, between March 2010 and October 2010.

Jones is also alleged to have intentionally touched the female in Snowdonia, Wales, again in 2010.

He is also accused of intentionally touching the woman in an intimate area in Hale Barns, Cheshire, between October 2010 and January 2012.

A trial for these charges has been pencilled for February 2022. 

Jones released a statement in January when he was charged with the initial offences.  

It said: ‘Approximately eighteen months ago, I contacted the police and was interviewed voluntarily because I became aware of rumours circulating about me that although false were extremely damaging.

‘I have fully co-operated with the police throughout, and am determined to ensure that my name is cleared.

‘In the circumstances, at this time it would not be appropriate to say any more, other than to state clearly that I did not do what is being alleged.’
