Monty the pony likes nothing better than sitting on his backside watching the world go by.

And, no, that’s not a figure of speech. Work-shy Monty really does sit down like mopey Eeyore on his bottom.

Owner Jemma Govier was so concerned by 12-year-old Monty’s behaviour she contacted a vet – to be reassured there were no underlying health issues, just a laid back attitude.

Taking it easy: Monty sits on his bottom. Owner Jemma Govier was reassured the pony had no underlying health issues, just a laid back attitude

Miss Govier, 28, a healthcare assistant from Redruth, Cornwall, said: ‘He’s done it for as long as I’ve had him.

‘I’ll turn around and he will be sat on his bum looking like he doesn’t have a care in the world.

‘He definitely prefers the laid-back life.’

Miss Govier and Monty have racked up 11,000 shares, likes and comments on Facebook.

She added: ‘People have told me he looks like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh or that he sits like a dog.

‘I’d never seen a horse do this before but it’s a regular occurrence with Monty.’
