A 36-year-old maths teacher who was once jailed for sexually touching underage schoolgirls has been banned from the classroom for life.

He will now no longer be able to teach following a disciplinary panel by the Teaching Regulation Agency.

Bould taught maths, previously employed by The de Ferrers Trust in Staffordshire, and was fired in July 2019.

He was teaching at The Pingle Academy in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, in 2018 and 2019, when he was suspended following concerns over his conduct.

He had spent six years at Nether Stowe School, in Lichfield, before that.

In a document outlining the decision, the panel ‘was satisfied that the conduct of Mr Bould, in relation to the facts found proved, involved breaches of the Teachers’ Standards’.

It added the ‘panel noted that the behaviour involved in committing the offence could have had an impact on the safety of pupils’ and could ‘affect public confidence in the teaching profession’.

Alan Meyrick, acting on behalf of the Secretary of State, concluded in the report: ‘In my judgement, the apparent lack of insight or remorse puts at risk the future well-being of pupils.

‘I have therefore given this element considerable weight in reaching my decision.

‘This means that Mr Steven Bould is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England.

‘Furthermore, in view of the seriousness of the allegations found proved against him, I have decided that Mr Steven Bould shall not be entitled to apply for restoration of his eligibility to teach.’

Seven of Bould’s offences took place at Pingle, whilst the other two happened at Nether Stowe.

He had also been ordered by the court to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
