A prominent doctor’s daughter and her lover posed for an innocent rock climbing picture just moments before they were accused of armed robbery.

Eleanor Rohana Ashford and her girlfriend Sarah Canceri are accused of stealing cash and cigarettes during their alleged crime spree across southwest Sydney on Friday night.

On the same day the couple, who are both aged 23, visited an indoor rock climbing centre to work out.

Canceri shared a picture showing both women posing with their arms tensed in little crop tops and shorts, still locked into the harnesses after their workout session.

‘First time rock climbing, nailed it,’ Canceri said in an Instagram post alongside the photo on Friday.

Ashford showcased her tattoo-clad torso in the photo, which includes a reference 1997, several lengthy phrases, a separate shin piece and a love heart.

Police allege later that evening the two women visited three separate petrol stations in southwest Sydney armed with the axe and knives, demanding attendants hand over cigarettes and cash.

The couple were arrested in the early hours of Saturday and charged with three counts of robbery armed with a weapon.

Police allegedly seized number plates believed to be stolen, knives, an axe, money and cigarettes from the Mitsubishi Lancer the couple were travelling in, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

The court heard police were called to a service station on Heathcote Road, Moorebank, about 11.45pm on Friday after reports cash and cigarettes were allegedly stolen by two people armed with an axe and knives.

Thirty minutes later, police were called to another service station on Newbridge Road, in the same suburb, where cash and cigarettes were allegedly taken.

At 1.15am on Saturday, police were called to a third service station, on Camden Valley Way, Edmondson Park where an employee was allegedly threatened with a hammer. Cash was also allegedly stolen.

The couple appear to be newly dating. Canceri posted her first picture with Ashford in July 2020, where she described her as the ‘love of my life’.

Following their arrest, Ashford appeared in court where she originally intended to apply for bail.

Her father, who is respected Wollongong surgeon Dr Bruce Ashford, told the court he would be willing to drive his daughter to Wollongong Police Station every day if she was granted bail.

However, Ashford’s bail application was withdrawn. She was remanded in custody to face Liverpool Local Court on May 19.

Canceri did not apply for bail. She will appear before Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
