The ‘tower of power’ was one of the first modern high rise apartments built in Melbourne.

It quickly became a hub of the rich and powerful and attracted the likes of Australia’s first billionaire Robert Holmes a Court, restaurateur George Tsindos and stockbroker Sir Ian Potter.

Mr Packer bought an apartment in the tower in the 1980s and used it as his base in Melbourne.

He was considered to be one of the most powerful media tycoons in the country with an estimated net worth of $6.5billion.

The Packer family had a controlling stake in the Nine television network and Australian Consolidated Press.

Mr Packer sold his apartment in the ‘power of tower’ for $1.4million in 2000.

The new owner completely renovated the interior, giving it a luxurious and modern twist.

The apartment consists of two lounge rooms and three bedrooms, each with their own ensuite and walk-in-wardrobes.

The open plan dining space and living room make it the perfect stage for entertaining guests.

An outside balcony offers sweeping views of the city with the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Treasury building and St Paul’s Cathedral all within sight.

The floors comprise of solid oak and Italian tiles while the windows are double-glazed.
