‘Most parents manage to work and have kids without whingeing about it every day’: Julia Hartley-Brewer slams Labour MP Stella Creasy in childcare row after she told how she was forced to stay at Westminster until 1am with her baby

Broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer has slammed Stella Creasy after the Labour MP told how she stayed at Westminster until 1am with her baby.
The politician shared a picture of her and her son in a car late last night after voting on the ‘policing bill’.
She repeated accusations the House of Commons was not a supportive place to work for mothers, saying: ‘Tell me again this system is family friendly.’
Ms Hartley-Brewer questioned Ms Creasy for not hiring a babysitter and asked why the child’s father had not been on care duty.
But the Walthamstow MP hit back that he was in the military and had been away at the time of the vote.

The row kicked off when Ms Creasy tweeted a picture of herself and the youngster in a car at 1.20am on Tuesday.
She wrote: ‘Me and kid2 finally leaving parliament after the votes for the policing bill went on until 1am – tell me again this system is family friendly.’
Ms Hartley-Brewer replied: ‘BREAKING: Woman paid £82k a year (even while on maternity leave) is unable to organise a babysitter.
‘Also: maybe you could ask your baby’s dad to step up every now and then. Most parents manage to work and have kids without whingeing about it every bloody day.’
Ms Creasy hit back: ‘Their dad is away with the army. does Julia hate the armed forces as much as she hates breastfeeding I wonder.’
Ms Hartley-Brewer said: ‘I don’t hate either @stellacreasy. Most women aren’t paid a full salary on maternity leave as you are & they don’t whinge about paying for childcare when needed.
‘Millions of women earn a fraction of your salary & they don’t expect their employer to organise life around their baby.’
Ms Creasy added: ‘Great so if you don’t hate either maybe stop trying to shame me for feeding a baby and thinking it’s daft to be voting at 1am as it’s not a childcare matter.
‘It’s in everyone’s interest that politics open to a broader range of people including yours as good for democracy.’
Ms Creasy drew mixed reactions when she took her son into the Commons Chamber in September and railed against the care mothers get in Parliament.
She had given birth to her second child earlier in the year and was already a staunch campaigner for better parental rights for MPs balancing work and family.
She cradled the boy and rose to ask ask the then Commons Leader Jacob Rees-Mogg a question.
Last year MPs backed new legislation that entitled ministers to six months maternity leave on full pay, but not backbenchers.
