Joy Behar is branded a hypocrite after being snapped unmasked inside restaurant

Joy Behar has been hit by another hypocrisy storm after being photographed unmasked inside a New York City restaurant hours after crowing of her plans to wear one indefinitely on national television.

On Thursday afternoon, as The View co-hosts discussed relaxed mask mandates in New York State and Bahar, 79, said that she would remain masked up despite constantly changing guidelines.

‘Personally, I listen to the little voice in my head that doesn’t really follow 100 percent what they tell me because they keep changing it,’ Behar said on Thursday.

But her flakiness was exposed by The Post Millennial just hours later, after Behar was snapped chin-wagging with friends in a banquette at a New York restaurant.

And a source even claimed to reporter Libby Emmons that Behar had strutted through the restaurant unmasked when her party left – even though her friends had covered up.

After seeing the photos of Behar unmasked, Emmons said: ‘Joy Behar said she was going to mask in public places ‘indefinitely’ because it’s just not safe. Except for last night out at this restaurant, apparently.’

She added: ‘I hear that she also walked out of the restaurant unmasked, though her companions dutifully donned theirs.’

Behar didn’t break any rules, with New York recently dropping a strict mandate which required patrons to show proof of vaccination before being allowed to eat inside restaurants, or visit other indoor leisure facilities.

But the comedienne had acted as if she was planning to go above-and-beyond during Thursday’s episode of the view, sparking claims that she is play-acting the COVID-cautious liberal on-screen, only to behave entirely differently in private.

‘So if I go on the subway, if I go in a bus, if I go into the theater …. a crowded place, I would wear a mask, and I might do that indefinitely. Why do I need the flu or a cold even? And so I’m listening to myself right now. I don’t think it’s 100% safe yet,’ she said.

Last week, New York Governor Kathy Hochul dropped the state’s strict indoor mask mandate.

The mask mandate, which sparked heated debate throughout the state, required businesses to ask customers for proof of full vaccination or require mask-wearing indoors at all times.

' I would wear a mask, and I might do that indefinitely,' Behar said on Thirsday. 'Why do I need the flu or a cold even? And so I'm listening to myself right now'

The mandate was supposed to be under review come its expiration, but people briefed on the matter told The New York Times that Hochul will let the mandate lapse as other Democratic-led states like New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Delaware and Oregon have announced an end to similar mandates.

The wave of blue states have started to drop their mask mandates while President Joe Biden and the White House are facing more pressure to look towards getting back to normal.

On Wednesday, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky said that the  agency would ‘soon put guidance in place’ on mask-wearing that will be based on science and data, the New York Post reported.

Currently the agency advises Americans to mask-up in indoor public places if they ‘are in an area of substantial or high transmission.’

According to the CDC, the average of daily new COVID cases has decreased 42.8 percent in the week from February 9.

Behar recently made headlines when she trolled DailyMail.com columnist Meghan McCain’s affectionate Valentine’s Day post to her husband Ben.

Slamming her former colleague on The View, Meghan shared a screen shot of Joy’s comment – which had been deleted – and branded Joy ‘pathetic.’

‘Happy Valentines Day Ben ⁦@bdomenech⁩ – I love you and am grateful every day for the life we have together,’ read Meghan’s original tweet. Along with the post, the blonde commentator shared a sweet photo with her husband.

One user wasn’t feeling the love and responded back, ‘Does every thought and sentiment need to be on Twitter?’ That question prompted a frosty response from Behar who wrote back: ‘Apparently’

Joy went ahead and deleted the one-word dig but not before it had been seen by McCain who snapped a photo of the exchange.

Meghan reposted it to her followers penning the message: ‘Imagine spending your Valentines Day trolling your ex colleagues tweet about her husband.’

When Fox host Janice Dean tweeted that Joy couldn’t ‘quit’ her, Meghan responded: ‘It’s pathetic and it creeps me out.’

There is no love lost between Joy and Meghan who frequently butted heads on The View up until McCain’s departure from the show over the summer. And, while their fiery exchanges led to a ratings boost, McCain later revealed in her memoir, Bad Republican, that they were hurtful.

Behar has previously been accused of donning black face.

In 2016 Behar admitted to dressing up as, what she called, ‘a beautiful African woman’.

Behar had been discussing a New York Times op-ed praising naturally curly hair, before showing viewers a photo of herself at a Halloween party, aged 29, with tan skin and short, dark, curly hair.

Former host Raven-Symoné asked Behar if that was her, asking ‘are you black?’

Behar said that she had dressed up as an African woman, but said ‘I only had makeup that was a little bit darker than my skin. That’s my actual hair, though.’
