Video of wedding ceremony shows the moment the clumsy encounter unfolded.

The happy couple are seen looking into each other’s eyes smiling before Andrew takes the ring box from his pocket.

As he opens the box, the ring – which appears to have come loose inside – falls straight out down to the jetty below.

‘Oh my god,’ the shocked bride is heard saying as she clasps her hands to mouth.

The minister is seen quickly crouching down to look for it, followed by the groom as a photographer also rushes over to help.

‘Oh my god, it went through!’ cries Marlee.

The couple told Fox40 they briefly halted the nuptials as they tried to come up with a plan to find the ring.

‘It was going off without a hitch and I was thinking in my head, ‘No weddings just go without a hitch, or did we just crack the code,’ Marlee said.

‘Andrew was like I am getting in,’ she added, but said he was persuaded not to because of how cold the lake’s waters are.

The bride and groom carried on with their wedding and said it didn’t stop them enjoying their special day.

‘I’m so happy to finally be marrying Andrew. There was a smile on my face the entire time even though I was like no,’ Marlee told the outlet.

‘Inside I was like, okay, we’ll get it back. We’ll get it back.’

The newlyweds then managed to enlist the help of Phill Abernathy, founder of Facebook group Tahoe Scuba Diving, who went diving in the lake the next day to look for the ring.

Abernathy said he soon found it among some rocks in the water and surprised the couple saying: ‘Hey guys I have one last question, does your ring look like this?’

‘That moment is an ecstatic feel-good moment,’ he said.
