A German-born gay porn star who later became a firefighter is warning about the dangers of pornography as he stands for the Scottish Parliament.
Philipp Tanzer, 43, is the Scottish Family Party’s regional list candidate for the Highlands and Islands at the Holyrood elections in May.
He starred in a host of porn films under the name Logan McCree after winning Germany’s Mr Leather contest in 2004, before becoming a fireman.
Mr Tanzer, who was born in Germany and moved to Scotland eight years ago, is now in a relationship with a woman and considering marriage.
Launching his political campaign, the former porn star is now warning of the negative effects pornography has on adults and children as he revealed he lost five friends in the industry to suicide and drugs.
‘I had a negative view of the pornographic industry even before I joined it, but I needed the money,’ German-born Mr Tanzer said.

Who is Philipp Tanzer?
Philipp Tanzer began working as a gay porn actor in 2007 after winning the German Mr Leather contest in 2004.
In 2012, Mr Tanzer moved to Scotland with his girlfriend. He announced that he was bisexual and no longer considered himself gay.
Since leaving the porn industry, he has become a men’s rights activist.
Appearing on BBC3 documentary ‘I Am A Men’s Rights Activist’, Mr Tanzer said he does not believe government statistics that show women are almost twice as likely to be victims of domestic abuse as men.
‘In one year I lost five friends in the industry to suicide and drug overdoses. I have seen the harm porn addiction can do. Not all my experiences with it have been negative though – I met some wonderful people.
‘One of the main reasons to run for the Scottish Family Party has been my experience and helping people learn from it.
He continued: ‘Porn is not a men’s problem. Both boys and girls consume pornography and both suffer under its impact.
‘When I was younger I was not clear what path I would take. I was pushed into identifying myself as something at the age of 32 that I was not.’
‘The Scottish Family Party best represent my views on life and society,’ he said.
Mr Tanzer is on the regional list alongside Scottish Family Party colleague Michael Willis, who claimed pornography was being promoted in the school curriculum in education on relationships, sexual health and parenthood (RSHP).
Mr Willis said: ‘The big growth area for the consumption of porn are children aged between 12 and 17. This is partly because it is readily available and many parents are unaware, but also because it is being actively promoted within our schools.
‘Pornography should be treated like alcohol and nicotine, especially when addressed in education. The dangers need to be highlighted and the current sex education is doing the opposite.’
The Scottish Government states on its website: ‘RSHP education is a key part of health and wellbeing within the Curriculum for Excellence.
‘RSHP education focuses on equipping children and young people with the knowledge, skills and values to make informed and positive choices about forming relationships. It can assist with making safer decisions about their sexual and emotional health and wellbeing.’
Mr Tanzer, who moved to Durness in 2012, said the Scottish Family Party ‘best represent my views on life and society’.

Mr Tanzer, who has background as a medic in the German military, said: ‘Everyone in Durness has heard about it. But I really try and help in the community as much as I can and people are very grateful.’
One of his then fellow firefighters said then: We would all have preferred it if he was a female porn actress. But he is what he is.
‘We asked him because he’s a young fit bloke. We need young fit men or women. None of us have a problem with his past. He’s a damn fine guy.’
