The couple were rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital but the man died a short time later.

The woman succumbed to her injuries and died at 10pm that night.

Sunshine Coast CIB officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said officers found a suicide note in the car.

The same letter was also discovered at a home which ‘indicated’ the crash could have been a murder suicide, the Courier Mail reports.

Senior Sergeant Edwards said the man ran a ‘well-known’ building company.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the crash or the moments before have been urged to contact police.
