A family is shattered by the death of a young father who lost his three-year battle with brain cancer just weeks before the birth of his baby girl.

Scott ‘Fergs’ Ferguson, from NSW, was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma, the most aggressive and fast-growing of brain tumor, in early 2018.

His death is a devastating blow to his family and friends and his pregnant partner Jaymie, who helped Scott through his cancer fight.

‘Through every tragedy and every triumph I will be right by your side. Time to kick this tumors ass!’, she wrote on Facebook in February 2018.

Since his diagnosis, Scott endured two brain surgeries, 56 sessions of radiation, 10 months of chemotherapy, 27 sessions of targeted therapy, and more than 35 seizures.

But his treatment didn’t stop the young couple from continuing to celebrate significant milestones and outliving five life expectancy predictions by doctors.

In March 2018 the couple bought their first home, got Scott back on his beloved motorbike, were married in late 2019, and are soon expecting a baby girl.

But he eventually lost his battle with brain cancer, with his partner Jaymie sharing the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post on April 1.

‘It is with the most shattered heart that I have to share with you all that Fergs grew his wings yesterday, he passed peacefully at home in no pain exactly as he wished.

‘Throughout this entire journey he was nothing short of incredible, he fought till his very last second, never giving up, looking after me and his little girl till the very end.

‘It’s goodbye for now baby, but I will see you on the other side. I hope you’re doing wheelies into those pearly gates, ride high baby bear, I will love you for all of eternity.’

Hundreds of well-wishers flooded Jaymie’s post with messages of love and support, many praising her bravery and strength throughout the tough journey.

‘He fought the hardest fight that anyone could ever fight out of love for you and the baby. He will always be there with you, watching over you’, one friend wrote.

‘Fergs was one of a kind, and his strength and amazing soul will live on through his two girls’, another wrote.

A GoFundMe page was created in the young family’s honour by friend Scott Schmidt, who described his late friend as having an ‘infectious smile’.

On top of having a huge heart and a genuine, humble personality, Scott liked to travel, ride his dirt bike and enjoy a ‘beer or two with mates’.

The fundraiser hopes to alleviate some financial stress for his heartbroken partner and has received over $18,000 from over 150 donors in just two days.

In a recent Facebook post Jaymie thanked her friends and family for all the love and support on behalf of herself and ‘Baby Fergs’.

‘Although this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to experience, he has left me the greatest gift in our daughter’, she wrote.

‘I will forever share with her how inspirational and incredible her dad was and I hope you all do to.’
