Paramedics were called to the scene but the 90-year-old was unable to be saved while the teenager escaped unharmed.

Police, surf lifesavers and a Westpac Helicopter had also attended the scene after receiving reports the pair had capsized.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.

It comes as huge swells have been seen on NSW’s coast in recent days due to wild weather conditions.

Flash rips and dangerous swells have prompted beaches around the Central Coast to close including North Avoca and Copacabana.
