Burger King customer shoots through drive-thru window ‘after becoming annoyed at her long wait time’ before firing ‘several shots’ at fleeing workers

A Burger King customer who police say was annoyed about her long wait time opened fire on staff through the drive-thru window. 

In stills from security footage taken at the fast food joint in Memphis, Tennessee, the woman can be seen leaning in through the window with her gun drawn. 

Police posted to Facebook about the incident on Friday. They said incident happened last Tuesday at the Burger King on Winchester Road.

The workers are said to have fled the gunfire through the back door of the business and were uninjured. Police are now hunting the suspect.

In a statement officers said: ‘Upon arriving on the scene, officers were advised that a female customer got angry regarding the wait time to be served at the drive-thru window. 

‘The female got out of the front passenger seat of a mid-sized, four-door, gray sedan and approached the drive-thru window. 

‘A verbal altercation ensued between the female patron and the workers. 

‘Video surveillance shows the suspect retrieve a black handgun from the vehicle, extend her upper body through the drive-thru window, and fire several shots at the Burger King workers.

‘The workers fled from the gunfire through the rear door of the business and were unharmed. The suspect was accompanied by a male who was the driver of the gray sedan.’

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Burger King told Fox13 in a statement: ‘We do not tolerate or condone violence of any kind at our restaurants because the safety of our team members and guests is our top priority. 

‘Fortunately, no one in the restaurant was injured during this incident. The restaurant operator is fully cooperating with authorities on their ongoing investigation.’ 

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. They say called will be given a secret ID number with their identification anonymous.
