  • Police were called to reports of collision on the A64 near Tadcaster on Monday
  • Driver, a 22-year-old man, and passenger, a 16-year-old boy, pronounced dead
  • Front-seat passenger, woman in her 20s, taken to hospital with serious injuries 
  • The Vauxhall Insignia was later reported stolen, said North Yorkshire Police

A teenage boy and a man have been killed with a woman rushed to hospital after a stolen Vauxhall they were in veered off a dual carriageway and crashed.

Police were called to reports of a collision on the A64 near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, at around 11.50pm on Monday.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, and the rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy, were sadly pronounced dead after becoming trapped in the vehicle.

A woman in her 20s, who was the front seat passenger, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. 

The vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, was later reported stolen, said North Yorkshire Police.

In a statement released this morning, the force said: ‘All three occupants are from the West Yorkshire area.

‘No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

‘The carriageway was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and a police investigation into the collision is ongoing.

‘Anyone with information, including witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage, is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.
