Boy, 11, riding a dirt bike is killed in shooting that left 14-year-old friend injured as police search for motive

- The 11-year-old died from a neck wound, while the 14-year-old was listed in stable condition after suffering wounds to his arm and ankle
- A neighbor attempted to perform CPR on the 11-year-old, to no avail

An 11-year-old boy was shot and killed while riding his dirt bike in Philadelphia on Friday night, while a 14-year-old boy on the bike was also wounded.
The shooting took place in the Oxford Circle neighborhood of the city around 6:30pm on Friday.
The 11-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children before 7pm.
The 14-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to his right arm and right ankle, but was listed in stable condition at Jeanes Hospital.

The identities of the victims have not been released, nor have any suspects been identified or weapons been recovered.
‘Someone, at some point, for an unknown reason come out on foot and fired shots at the two boys as they were riding up and down the street on this pedal bike,’ Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said to CBS3.
‘We’re doing what we can to interview witnesses to get descriptions and to do what we can to figure out the motive behind this.’
Patrols will be increasing in the neighborhood while police hunt for the suspects and evidence.
‘My grandpa was taking a shower and I heard the shots and he came down and I asked “Was that, fireworks?” And he said, “I don’t know,” said 12-year-old Santiago Quintero, who heard the double shooting.
Another witness, a neighbor, reports attempts to try to save the child’s life after the shooting.

‘We run out, and we see him in the middle of the street and my next-door neighbor, she’s a nurse, she come and try to give him CPR,’ the neighbor told WPVI.
‘We’re doing everything we can to get as much information as we can in real-time so we can put this together as quickly as possible,’ Outlaw added.
The double shooting of the two children was part of a deadly night of violence in the city.
KYW Newsradio reports at least nine people – including the two boys – were shot on Friday night.
Seven people ages 17 to 42 were shot at the Golf & Social bar in the Fishtown neighborhood, with three of them suffering critical injuries.
Multiple guns were recovered from the scene and a person of interest was taken into policy custody.
CBS3 reports 114 people have been killed in Philadelphia during the first three months of 2021 so far, a 30 percent spike from a year ago.
