Aussie judge ‘approves’ boy, seven, adopting teddy bears in heartwarming letter under the ‘International Teddy Act of 1908’

An Australian judge has approved a seven-year-old boy’s request to formally adopt his teddy bears.

Psychologist and academic Dr Stephen Bright said his young nephew had written to the Family Court of Western Australia, asking if he could adopt his six adored teddies.

The Judge then responded with a heartwarming letter, informing the little boy that under the ‘International Teddy Act of 1908’, his request had been granted.

‘In the matter of Mr Denham, Baby Denham, Brown Bear, Bamboo, Special Teddy Jnr and Tiny,’ the court order was titled.

‘Application having been made under the International Teddy Act 1908 for an adoption order in relation to a hug of teddies known as Mr Denham, Baby Denham, Brown Bear, Bamboo, Special Teddy Jnr and Tiny who reside in … Western Australia.

Dr Bright shared a pic of the document to Twitter and praised the court for their kindness.

‘Not sure how many similar requests they get, but this seemed to go above and beyond. Thank you,’ he wrote.
