An amputee in a wheelchair was captured having a bizarre supermarket meltdown, spitting in the face of staff and hurling shopping baskets across the bread aisle before a security guard tried to drag him from the chair.
Security footage shows the man hurtling down an escalator at Newcastle’s Marketown Woolworths before knocking over a partition and then getting into a heated argument with a worker at the cigarette counter.
He appears extremely agitated on CCTV vision and begins throwing items across the counter at staff before spitting at a female worker.

He began hurling shopping baskets across the bread aisle before a security guard (pictured left) intervened
Angered by the interaction he then moves to the supermarket entrance and starts firing shopping baskets at bread displays.
A security guard then grabs the man’s chair from behind but the attempt to subdue him fails.
The security worker then awkwardly backs off as the man in the wheelchair advances toward him.
Even when he crashes out of the wheelchair, the man aggressively pursues the security guard by crawling along the floor.
Eventually, one woman helped the man back into his wheelchair as other stunned shoppers watched on as the strange incident unfolded.

Upon leaving the car park, the man is captured knocking down a boom gate after soaring down the parking ramp.
The man has not been charged over the public meltdown.
‘Newcastle City police were called to a shopping centre at Newcastle West about 8.40pm on Wednesday 21 October 2020, following reports a man was behaving erratically and yelling at staff members,’ NSW Police said in a statement.
‘Anyone with information is urged to come forward immediately.’
