Authorities in Peru have launched a manhunt for an alleged American drug dealer who was caught on camera snatching his autistic four-year-old son from his mother in Peru.

The boy, identified as Tiago, was walking with his mother Glenda and her boyfriend when they were intercepted by her former boyfriend, Luis Alfredo Orosco Olivero in the Lima district of Miraflores on Thursday.

Footage of the frantic kidnapping shows the Los Angeles native running out from an SUV and picking up his son before he punched Glenda and sent her crashing to the ground.

Orosco Olivero raced back to the vehicle and Glenda and her boyfriend attempted to stop him from fleeing.

Glenda told Peruvian network Panamericana Televisión that while she did not have a good relationship with her son's father, whom she met through her uncle and his wife while on vacation in the United States, she did not want their differences to stand in the way of the four-year-old child from spending time with his dad

Glenda hung on to the vehicle and was dragged down the street before the driver, a former friend she identified as Carolina Victoria Flores Mendoza, sped away.

The incident, Glenda told Peruvian network Panamericana Televisión, unfolded Tuesday when she met with Orosco Olivero and refused to allow him to take their son for a couple of days after the boy had returned home from a previous stay with lice in his hair and a case of pink eye.

‘He was threatening me days that he was going to take him away and that if I didn’t let him take my son, that he was going to kidnap my boyfriend, that he was going to hurt my grandparents or he was going to kill me,’ she said. ‘He has threatened to kill me many times.’

Glenda also told the network that she appeared the local Miraflores police station on Tuesday and requested an order of protection against Orosco Olivero. However, the filing was rejected because she did not have the necessary legal documents.

While she acknowledged that the former couple did not have a good relationship, she did not want their personal differences to prohibit Tiago from seeing his father.

‘He had access to the baby. I have never denied it. I have never tried to separate him from my son. I’ve always given him access,’ Glenda explained. ‘But he doesn’t want me to live with him. That violent way of taking my son is not right. It’s not good for my son. If he really loved our son, he wouldn’t do that. My son is fine with me, I take care of him.’

According to Glenda, she met Orosco Olivero through her uncle while vacationing in the United States and learned that he was involved in drug dealing as their relationship became more serious.

She said that Orosco Olivero was in Peru to work on a clothing business that he was reportedly going to open with Flores Mendoza.

He rented a Miraflores oceanside Airbnb apartment, but had already checked out by Thursday.

Glenda now fears that Orosco Olivero could attempt to take Tiago out of Peru. Authorities have set up surveillance at Jorge Chávez International Airport

‘I am very afraid that he will be taken out of the country,’ she said. ‘He is an American and Mexican citizen. He has his Mexican passport.’
