Who do you think you are! Britons furious at EU for using Brexit to 'take advantage' of UK

Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailed the signing of the Brexit trade deal on December 24, 2020, repeating the UK has now “taken back control”. He said: “This is a deal that will protect jobs across the country, a deal that will see UK goods and components to be sold without tariffs, without quotas in the EU market. A deal which will allow our companies and exporters to do even more business with our European friends.

“We have taken back control of our laws and destiny.

“We have taken back control of every jolt of our regulations in a way that is complete and unfettered, from January 1, we are outside the customs union and the Single Market.”

But when asked in our latest poll if the EU is using Brexit to take advantage of Britain, the response was unanimous.

A huge 93 percent (1,903 readers) agreed, with just six percent (119 readers) disagreeing and the remaining 33 readers undecided.

Reacting to the poll, Express.co.uk reader “The EU don’t have the monopoly on trade”, raged: “Is the UK making the most of Brexit? Is EU using Brexit to take advantage of UK?

“No the Government is not and yes the EU is using Northern Ireland to take advantage of the UK.”

Another Express.co.uk reader said: “The EU is using Brexit to punish us for choosing freedom.

“It’s such a pity our negotiators were Remainers who crumbled to the EU instead of standing firm against all their demands.”

Many Express.co.uk readers launched furious attacks against Boris Johnson and his Conservative Party Government.

Fellow reader “Upset” said: “I voted Brexit but believe Johnson’s deal was dreadful.

“We’ve gained nothing and lost trade to Northern Ireland.

“Fishermen are furious they’re worse off, there are long queues at Dover and we’re still paying billions.”

“Saoutchik” raged: “Brexit will never work, it was all based on lies.

“There has been no ‘making the best of Brexit opportunities’ because there aren’t any. It was only ever Fool’s Gold.”

Express reader “Last days of Brexit” added: “‘A deal which will allow our companies and exporters to do even more business with our European friends’.

“Well, that was a lie, wasn’t it?”

“No, Brexit has been the disaster it was expected to be.”
