'We've sanctioned more banks than EU' Raab hits back at claims UK slow to act on Russia

Dominic Raab insisted Britain’s reaction to the threat Russia is posing was swift and more extensive than that of partners within the European Union.

The deputy Prime Minister said the UK targeted a larger number of Russian banks compared to the bloc as he defended the measures adopted so far to cripple Moscow’s military machine.

He noted he had contributed to setting up an asset-freezing scheme targeting Russian oligarchs long before the invasion of Ukraine as he reiterated Britain’s commitment to pressure Russia into withdrawal from Ukrainian territory.
