Vaccine taskforce machine-guns Macron in brutal swipe 'insufficiently strong leadership'

Emmanuel Macron wrongly claimed the vaccine was “quasi-ineffective” on people older than 65 before the jab was suspended in some EU states amid fears it caused blood clots. Former Vaccine Taskforce Chair Kate Bingham said that EU leaders have “damaged” public trust in the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine after questioning its efficacy. She noted that: “Vaccine hesitancy is not a good thing.”

Ms Bingham told Times Radio: “I read the headlines and I see the confidence that has gone down especially in France and other countries.

“There is a very clear record of vaccine hesitancy being driven by insufficiently strong political leadership.”
