Rejoiner group launches recruitment drive to ‘revive pro-EU spirit' among Britain's young

Despite Britain completing its departure from the EU, The Young European Movement UK, has published a job application for a ‘Youth Engagement Manager’. As part of the team’s pursuit to reverse Brexit, the role will look to make a “huge difference” for young people across the UK, just five years after the referendum. As per the job advertisement, it states: “The role provides the incredible opportunity to make a huge difference for young people in the UK by reviving the pro-European, activist spirit amongst all under-35-year-olds across the country.

“Building the Young European Movement UK in the capacity of the Youth Engagement Manager will be a challenging and demanding role, but also a particularly rewarding one.”

The role will offer a salary of £22,000 as they look to reinvigorate the pro-European “spirit among the UK youth”.

In a bid to increase its diversity, the group would welcome applications from women, working parents, and those from BAME and disabled backgrounds.

The post has no set working hours, offering “flexibility” to distribute the 37.5 across the working week, although the successful candidate “will be expected to attend out of hours meetings” with the board and other volunteers.

The group labels itself as the leading “pro-European youth organisation” in the UK.

They state: “We are committed to promoting European values and culture across the UK and ensuring that we stay closely linked to the rest of Europe.

“Although the UK has left the EU, our relationship with the EU remains important and so our work continues.

“We continue to maintain a connection with the EU, to make a case for the EU project, and emphasise the UK’s role on the continent.

They said in a post last week: “The census is a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales.

“To complete the census go to https://census.gov.uk/ and request a code via text.

“Enter the code and away you go. It takes 20 minutes.

“Under nationality, you can choose as many options as you wish – whatever you choose also select other and enter European.”

Indeed, a separate party, Rejoin EU announced it will field candidates in the London Assembly election in May.

The party claimed Brexit isn’t working for the UK, ahead of the local elections on May 6.
