PMQs LIVE: Boris faces Commons ambush over 'greed' gaffe as mistake leaked from meeting

Threats from the EU to block coronavirus vaccines will likely top the agenda. There is also concern a third wave of infections on the continent could soon make their way to Britain.

The Prime Minister has already warned the surge in the EU will likely impact the UK. However, he said he was hopeful the successful rollout of the vaccinations in Britain will prevent the need to delay the easing of lockdown restrictions.

Mr Johnson will likely be eager to emphasise the UK’s support for vaccinations around the world after making an unfortunate gaffe at a meeting of backbench MPs last night.

The Prime Minister joked the success of Britain’s immunisation drive was thanks to “greed” by securing contracts with AstraZeneca that did not require vaccine doses to be shared with the EU.

The remarks are unlikely to go down well with the EU and plenty of backbench MPs are likely to use the joke to criticise the Prime Minister in the Commons.
