Nadine Dorries vows arts boost in neglected towns

More than 100 areas that have low levels of cultural spending will share £24million a year by 2025.

It comes after figures showed Arts Council England spent £21 per head in London, more than double the £9.20 spent in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Ms Dorries said: “While people in wealthy parts of the UK are swimming in opportunity, other places have been overlooked.

“Until now.”

New and existing arts venues, such as the Blackpool Winter Gardens, will be able to bid for funds.
