Speaking to LBC’s Andrew Castle this morning, former advisor to Jeremy Corbyn Andrew Fisher called on Labour leader Keir Starmer to “show more passion” to drive the party forward. He said “now the time is right” for the Labour leader to show what he stands for because things “are not going great”.
But Mr Castle interjected with “especially not Jeremy Corbyn!”, adding Labour’s disastrous 2019 general election “didn’t go well though did it Andrew!”.
Mr Fisher parried, arguing how current polling shows Labour on 32% which is the same as it was for the 2019 election under former leader Mr Corbyn.
He added “it’s not going great” for Mr Starmer and demanded the “time is right now” that he shows more passion.
He continued by saying while Mr Starmer has been shown to get behind key issues such as the “fire and rehire” practice but stressed he needs to push for more specific issues in order to stand out as a passionate leader of the opposition.

And if there was a vote tomorrow researchers predict the Tories would keep 27 of their 45 seats in the Red Wall areas.
Labour would win back 18 of the 45 seats it lost in the 2019 general election.
The November lockdown saw the Tories fall out of favour with Red Wall seats as did the Dominic Cummings crisis where the former aide drove illegally to Barnard Castle breaking coronavirus lockdown rules.
But the success of the vaccine rollout and reduced infection levels has seen Boris’s party rise in favour amongst his new legion of supporters in the former Labour ‘Red Wall’.
