'Considerable embarrassment!' Sturgeon's SNP slammed for education disaster in Scotland

MSP Murdo Fraser erupted on BBC’s ‘Any Questions?’ yesterday as he outlined catastrophic failings of the SNP and their handling of Scotland’s education system. He said Scottish education was “a source of considerable embarrassment” for Scotland. The furious Scot highlighted that Scotland is “slipping down the league tables” of education in the world where kids are “lacking basic skills” in their learning.

Mr Fraser said: “There was a very interesting report just out today from The Institute for Government looking at Scottish education which said that spending per pupil in Scotland is ten percent higher than spending per pupil in England.”

The Tory added: “And yet outcomes in Scotland are markedly poorer and are actually declining and the gap is growing.”

The MSP continued: “That is particularly the case in subjects like maths and science where that should all worry us.

“And that’s against a backdrop where we have a stubbornly wide attainment gap, between pupils from better off backgrounds less well off backgrounds.”

The Scot went on to highlight how “we have far too few pupil’s achieving basic skills and numeracy” and added how “Scotland is slipping down international league tables.”

He said: “This is a real worry, because historically Scottish education was prized as being world leading.”

And in a damming conclusion the MSP delivered a scathing blow to the heart of the state of Scottish education under the SNP.

Fraser said: “It’s a source of considerable embarrassment to people in Scotland that against almost every measure, outcomes in education in Scotland are worse than they are in England.”

The Labour MSP then went on to deliver a stinging blow to the core of the SNP and their plans for Scotland.

She slammed: “There is no economic assessment, no economic prospectus for one of the major decisions being made by the Scottish government!”

Ms Baillie said how “it’s a completely blank sheet of paper” adding the SNP’s plans are “simply unacceptable!”

And she concluded by saying how the party “can’t even answer basic questions on currency!”
