Tony Miklinski told Express.co.uk he believed people in Scotland would struggle to identify who the leader of the UK’s Labour Party was, as Sir Keir does not resonate with the Scottish public. The Scottish Tory added while Boris Johnson also has difficulty resonating with the people of Scotland, he is a well-recognised figure.
Mr Miklinski said: “Keir Starmer comes across as Mr reasonable, flexible but where does he stand exactly?
“He is very different from his predecessor, the things he says are much more sensible and mainstream.
“But I am not at all sure what he stands for and I am not really sure what he stands for in terms of what matters in Scotland and in particular independence.
“I think you would actually struggle for people to be able to name who the leader of the Labour Party was UK-wide if you were in Glasgow.

“He is not a commanding figure and he does not really resonate with the Scottish public.”
The Scottish Tory added: “You could say that not resonating with the Scottish public is true of Boris Johnson but he is well known.
“He is well recognised, nobody doubts who he is and what he stands for.
“So I think that Labour has got a real problem with the newness of the Scottish leader and the relatively uninspiring Keir Starmer.”
“They became lazy, they stopped caring about the people they represented and they have paid the penalty.
“They no longer offer anything new, anything stimulating to the population.
“That is why their fall has been so great.
“So to swap leaders a matter of 60 to 70 days before a hugely important election is just crass.”
