Philippe Lamberts insisted angry cannot blame Brussels for the bloc’s shambolic jabs rollout when the company is under delivering. The Belgian MEP said: “I don’t think you can point your finger at the Commission because a supplier is incapable or couldn’t give a toss about meeting its contractual obligations, I think that’s a little too simplistic.” Mr Lamberts, the co-chair of the Green bloc of MEPs, was hitting out at Eurosceptic Frenchman Nicolas Bay.
The anti-Brussels politician, a member of Marine Le Pen’s National Rally, suggested the EU couldn’t trusted to look after its citizens after failing to secure enough doses of coronavirus vaccines for the bloc.
He said: “I was horrified to hear that Maros Sefcovic says we are no open and generous with our partners and we invite our partners to be as open and transparent as we are.
“Well that is terrible naivety by the Commission is combined with incompetence on the vaccines, that really brought out our policies and current mode of functioning in the EU is simply not up to the major challenges we have to collectively rise to.”
