A woman has been slammed for interrupting a busker to tell her to give up singing. 

Singer Nahscha shared a video of the encounter on TikTok, where supporters came to her defence.

‘Please watch..read.. and remember to be nice. Is it that hard?,’ she wrote. 

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 800,000 times, Nahscha is performing in a New York subway station when a woman passing on an escalator criticises her.

‘Your voice is like eh eh, don’t sing anymore,’ the woman tells Nahscha, while giving a thumbs down while people around her laugh.

‘Thank you,’ the singer responds before telling her audience what the woman said.

In text laid over the video, Nahscha wrote: ‘I don’t post this for sympathy. I just hope it reminds someone to think before they speak unnecessary/rude/hateful/condescending comments towards others.

‘You never know what people are going through. Please do your best to radiate positive energy and be kind.

‘Karma is real and nobody like a bully’.  

The clip has attracted thousands of supportive comments from people urging Nahscha to ignore the woman’s remark and continue pursuing her dream.

‘Why was she so negative? Your voice is amazing, don’t stop doing what you love!!,’ one user wrote.

‘Some people in NYC are so miserable, don’t listen to her,’ another said.

A third commented that the woman’s remark reflected more on her than on Nahscha’s singing.

‘Ppl who are bullies like this are reflecting their own insecurities onto others. They feel angry when they see others doing something they were told they couldn’t do,’ the user said.

While another wrote: ‘Imagine going out of your way to upset others when you could simply be quiet.’

On her website, Nahscha describes herself as a classically trained vocalist with a Bachelors of Arts in Music from Coastal Carolina University.

She said that she grew up in an Ultra Orthodox Jewish community and that music has been an escape for her since childhood.

Nahscha ‘spends a lot of her time singing on the streets and subways of New York City, as a Busker.

‘She has found that singing in public settings creates organic moments and makes people happy,’ the website reads.
