Why this picture has made police FURIOUS – as they blast a ‘dumb’ white hatchback driver for his bizarre parking decision

  • NSW Police have shared a picture of a driver who parked his car in a safety ramp
  • People have blasted the driver for his ‘stupidity’ as no stopping signs can be seen
  • The driver was walking his dog in nearby bushland and said he missed the signs
  • The safety ramp had been used in a truck collision only two weeks earlier

A driver who left his parked car in the middle of a safety ramp that was used in a truck crash only two weeks earlier has been blasted online by police.

The white Mitsubishi Mirage was parked in the safety ramp at the bottom of Mount Ousley Road, Wollongong, on Monday.

Locals have since blasted the driver for his ‘stupidity’ after he was found in nearby bushland walking his dog.

The post said that the police became worried when they found the car without a driver.

‘Police attempted to locate the driver as they were concerned for their welfare, but they weren’t with their vehicle,’ the post read.

‘A canvass of the area located the driver in the nearby bushland walking their dog, and that they had deliberately parked their vehicle in the middle of the safety ramp to do so.’

The driver claimed that he had not seen the no stopping signs, that were clearly visible in the picture taken by police – prompting a public lambasting.

‘Is he blind there’s no stopping signs everywhere,’ one wrote.

‘I love how there’s two massive signs clearly designed for maximum visibility, as well as no-stopping signs. Yet, people apparently STILL can’t read,’ another commented.

‘Should be 12 months loss of license for that stupidity,’ wrote a third.

The safety ramp at the bottom of Mount Ousley Road had been used in a crash involving a truck on March 28, with police explaining that the truck driver involved was luckily able to use the ramp at the time.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was asked to immediately move the vehicle and was handed an infringement notice.

Police reminded the public that the safety ramps were to be used for emergencies only.

‘Please remember Safety Ramps are there for a specific purpose. They are not designed for picnics, rest stops, or walking your pets,’ the post warned.
