Two-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Dumfries as 54-year-old man driving car is uninjured

  • Toddler struck by a Honda Civic in Charnwood Place at around 6.50pm on Friday
  • He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary but pronounced dead 
  • The 54-year-old male driver of the car was said to be uninjured

A two-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Dumfries with the 54-year-old driver uninjured.

The toddler was struck by a Honda Civic in Charnwood Place at around 6.50pm on Friday.

The youngster was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Police Scotland is now appealing for anyone with information or CCTV footage overlooking the area to come forward.

Sgt Bob McNay, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the child’s family at this time following their tragic loss.

‘The investigation into the incident is ongoing and we are asking for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the events to please come forward.’
