As part of Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown, international travel will no longer be illegal from May 17.
This afternoon ministers will publish its “green list” of countries where people can travel without requiring quarantine in return.
They will also publish a list of “amber” countries where 10 days of isolation at home must be completed and a “red list” of places Brits must continue to avoid.
Those returning from any red list country will be required to pay for 10 days of mandatory quarantine at an airport hotel.
