The $200,000 electric Porsche Taycan is Australia's bestselling luxury car

A $200,000 all-electric Porsche is Australia’s bestselling upmarket luxury sedan only a month after launching – and comfortably outsells a $50,000 zero emissions Nissan.

In March, 161 Porsche Taycans found a home, with the German turbo sports sedan finally going on sale in Australia in 2021 – two years after production started in Stuttgart.

Despite having a starting price of $190,000, the Taycan outsold the Mercedes-Benz E-Class which managed 155 sales despite prices beginning at $97,000.

This made the Porsche sedan Australia’s bestselling luxury sedan priced at more than $70,000.

‘There was a lot of pent-up demand for that car and its release in Australia was delayed due to Covid,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I don’t think that’s indicative of its ongoing sales, it’s more the result of 18-odd months of previewing and preorders.’
