Shocking moment a furious driver launches a latte at a cyclist hogging the centre of the road – so whose side are you on?

A cyclist has caught the moment a driver furiously threw a coffee cup at their bike while they were riding in the middle of the road.
The rider captured the incident through a camera on the back of their bike as they cycled through the inner Sydney suburb of Waterloo on January 22, 2021.
Adult cyclists are required to ride their bicycle on the left side of the road in New South Wales, but are not allowed on footpaths.
The VW driver, seemingly frustrated by the cyclist riding in the centre of the road, is seen flinging the coffee cup out his window.

‘Man throws object at cyclist. Man is on camera. Man is in trouble now!’ the video uploaded to Upride is captioned.
The video first shows the driver behind the cyclist as they both travel through inner city streets.
The motorist fails to halt at a stop sign before going through a roundabout.
They then fling what appeared to be a coffee cup at the cyclist, before coming up behind the bike as it slowed for a pedestrian crossing.
Just before turning right at a street, the driver says goodbye to the bike rider by flipping them the bird.

In New South Wales, a bicycle is considered a vehicle and is subject to the same road rules as cars and additional regulations.
‘[Only] children under 16 years of age are allowed to ride on a footpath [unless accompanying a child],’ Transport for New South Wales stated on its website.
‘Bicycle riders must use a bicycle lane where one is available. If there is no bicycle lane, ride to the left of the road but avoid grates, debris and parked cars.’
There must be at least one metre left between a car and bike.
