Sarah Beeny uses the same bath water as her husband and four sons to avoid waste

Sarah Beeny has revealed she sometimes reuses the same bath water as her husband and four sons to avoid waste while describing a typical day on her Somerset farm. 

The 49-year-old property guru relocated from London to just outside Bruton three years ago and started renovating a semi-derelict former dairy farm into their ideal family home. 

In an interview with Stella Magazine, the mother-of-four detailed what a day of her new country life looks like – revealing she, her children and husband Graham Swift are still living on a temporary site about 500 yards from their house. 

Her day begins with toast and Bovril, before heading down to the site of their home, and then unwinding in the evening with a run and a bath – but not before sons Billy, 15, Charlie, 13, Raffy, 10, and Lawrie, nine, have had a dunk in the water.

‘In the evening, I look forward to a bath – I light candles and use one of our home-made bath bombs,’ she said. 

‘Sometimes though, we reuse the same bathwater – why waste the water? – and I’m usually last, so the water is six dunks through.’ 

The mother-of-four told how she wakes up at around 6.30am and tends to the family’s pet cockapoo, Maple. 

After 20 minutes of household chores Sarah then plays loud music to wake up her boys and will check emails in bed with a cup of milky coffee, before enjoying toast for breakfast. 

Next Sarah visits the site of her new home with husband Graham; during lockdown she would also homeschool her four boys – admitting that it was a ‘horrendous’ task.

When it comes to household chores, the mother said the burden is shared relatively equally, with her sons occasionally making dinner for the family. 

To relax in the evening, Sarah walks in the woods or goes on a run around the farm, before heading to bed at around 10.30pm. 

The presenter is currently filming for her show New Country Life, which follows the couple as they attempt to build the home of their dreams.  

The Channel 4 show was met with a backlash last year after Sarah was accused of ‘painful citysplaining’. She called the property ‘Little House on the Prairie’ as the couple began changing the land around their would-be home, including planting 1,000 trees to create a ‘woodland walk’ near the stream.

The couple were were eventually granted permission for their dream house, but the development on the edge of Bruton has been subject to an arduous planning permission process.

The Restoration Nightmare presenter listed the home – located in south-west London, near Tooting Bec Common – for £3.5million after purchasing it in 2005 for £480,000, according to public records.
