Sadiq Khan told he has 'wasted 5 years' as London Mayor amid soaring capital crime rates

Shaun Bailey told Express.co.uk that he was inspired to run for London Mayor after hearing Sadiq Khan state it would take a decade to solve knife crime. The Tory also stated that the grieving families of victims of knife crime “do not have 10 years” to wait and demanded Mr Khan takes some responsibility for knife crime rates in London.

Mr Bailey said: “Everyone says to me ‘why are you running for Mayor?’

“The day I started to think about it was when Sadiq Khan stood up and said it is going to take 10 years to solve knife crime.

“Grieving families do not have 10 years, traumatised communities do not have 10 years.

“Just last month a good friend of mine, her son was murdered, she does not have 10 years.

“He needs to get on his bike immediately, he has wasted 5 years trying to remove any responsibility from himself.

“We have an 11-year high homicide, 86 percent rise in robbery, 60 percent rise in knife crime.

He added: “Under Sadiq Khan crime has evolved it has not been solved.

“That is because he fundamentally misunderstands what it is.

The London Mayoral election takes place next week on May 6, 2021.
