‘Now, I’ve totally transformed myself into someone I’m proud of being. I’m a strong woman who knows exactly what she wants and who she is.’

Luke’s defence lawyer said during her court case that an existing mental health report did not ‘properly’ address his client’s situation – which includes entrenched psychological issues including hospital stays for schizophrenia.

The Crown’s prosecutor Margaret Forrest said Ms Luke sold nearly 2.5kg of marijuana in 48 different drug deals over an eight-month period.

Ms Luke says the MDMA found at her home was for personal use.

Her lawyer said the trafficking of marijuana was in ‘large part’ to support ‘her addiction’ rather than criminal proceeds.

He said she is now working as a beautician and is undergoing mental health and drug rehabilitation.

Judge Michael Williamson noted her struggles with mental health issues and issued her empathy despite the large amount of drugs being sold.

He said Ms Luke should be ‘thankful for her mother’s support’ who was sitting at the back of the court as he handed down an immediate parole.

She will be on parole for the full length of her three-year sentence.
