Nine-hour-long hostage siege ends as machete-wielding man who took a woman prisoner inside a home is captured by police – after yelling ‘I am not going back to jail’

A machete-wielding man who held a woman hostage for nine hours in a suburban home while police swarmed the area has been captured.
The armed man had been hauled up inside a house with his captive on Denison Street in Carramar, in Sydney’s west, since 1pm.
Earlier in the day, neighbours heard him yell at: ‘I am not coming out, I am not going back to jail.’

A police spokeswoman said he was removed from the property just before 10pm.
The woman left the house uninjured.
Witnesses said they saw the armed 35-year-old in a confrontation with police on the front veranda, before he retreated inside.
Neighbours said the man was recently released from prison and wears an ankle bracelet as part of his parole, according to 9 News.
Police put the street in lockdown and have urged residents to stay away.
