An officer in a white Police Rescue uniform and blue helmet is seen cutting between the two doors of the car to create more room to safely retrieve the trapped motorists.

To the side of the car, workers in his-vis gear are seen sweeping the floor and removing wreckage from the collision.

Two motorists were then carried from the backseats of the car and put on to stretchers after emergency crews made enough space to access them.

The rescue mission involved efforts from both police and paramedics.

After the ambulances left the scene, the destroyed car was fastened to a tow truck and removed from the highway.

The accident caused bumper-to-bumper traffic for several kilometres behind the accident with cars queuing around the corner.
